Electric Feels Good | Art By Graffiti Salad | Volkswagen Canada

This project was a month long journey documenting the creation of a massive graffiti mural. The wall which the mural was painted on was 60ft high by 150ft wide and was part of Volkswagen’s Electric Feels Good campaign for their new ID Buzz.

I was pumped when Jordan from Graffiti Salad reached out. We’ve worked on a few projects together in the past, so I knew this one would be something cool. Since the mural was being done using swing lifts, I had to get my Fall Safe Certification in order to film safely while elevated alongside the artists.

It was such a cool experience capturing the full process of the wall being complete. I shot over the span of a month, using my Sony A7SIII for the more up close, on the ground footage and drone shots for dynamic aerial views of the wall as it came together.

About two weeks after the mural was completed, we shot a sit down interview to tie the entire story together.

Timeline:

  • 2 Weeks Pre-planning shotlist, getting fall-safe certification, scouting the location and learning swing lifts + meetings.

  • 4 weeks Filming the process from start to finish

  • Half Day Filming interview

  • 3 Weeks To deliver final product with revisions

Deliverables:

  • 1 Full Brand Video documenting the entire project

  • 3 Short-form videos for Instagram and social media, showcasing key moments of the process

This project was equal parts creative challenge and rewarding storytelling and I’m proud of how we were able to capture the scale and process of the job.
